Lend an Ear
Ear pain is one of the most common reasons for children's visits to chiropractors. Treatment is predicated
on the belief that there is a strong link between the birthing process and middle-ear infections. As the infant's head pushes
through the birth canal, the cervical vertebrae (at the base of the head and the upper-neck area) may become misaligned. The
result can be a disruption of nerve function in this region. This, in turn, interferes with the functioning of the Eustachian
tube, which leads to fluid buildup in the middle ear. A chiropractic adjustment may help by stretching the soft tissue around
the ear canal, ultimately allowing fluid to drain and reducing the risk of infection due to bacterial buildup.
