Treating Headaches
Patients with recurrent headaches may turn to chiropractic treatment as an alternative to merely treating
their symptoms with pain relievers. Headaches often result from stimulation or prolonged pressure exerted oh any of the nerves,
arteries, or blood vessels located in the skull. In most cases, chiropractors believe headaches to be caused by misaligned
vertebrae that impinge on nerves or blood vessels. Treatment for this problem consists of finding the culpable bone or muscle
abnormality, by moving the patient's head and observing its range of motion, all the while palpating the area. On the basis
of this examination, the chiropractor will likely exert a precise cervical thrust to release misaligned vertebrae and release
nerves to their proper position and function.
